About
I am an active listener and offer insight into clients' choices, patterns of behavior and thoughts, and persistent struggles. I work to guide my clients toward greater self-awareness in the therapy room and beyond - to their day-to-day lives. I enjoy identifying an individual's strengths to help further their own exploration and growth. My nature is friendly and approachable, but I am also direct and focused on the work. I use both psychodynamic therapy (which focuses on increasing a client's self-awareness) and cognitive-behavioral therapy (a solution-based approach that works toward solving problems and learning skills). I have also had success with behavior coaching and mindfulness practice to help clients lose weight and maintain the weight loss.
I have been a licensed clinical social worker for over 25 years. I received my Master's degree in Social Work from Loyola University-Chicago in 1994. My career path includes work in rehabilitation centers, school systems, mental health centers, a weight loss company, and private practice. I have worked with individuals who are trying to cope with anxiety, depression, life transitions, illness, and weight loss. I work primarily with adults, including young adults who are nearing or already in college.
